The Lowdown on The 2009 Swine Flu Outbreak

The 2009 outbreak of swine flu or H1N1 virus is recently hugging the limelight due to the potential harm or effects it can have on a patient or on a community. Unfortunately, the source of the virus still cannot be traced.

Before the first case in the United States was discovered, the illness was believed to have started in Mexico which eventually spread to other countries. Recently, the first case of swine flu was reported in

Costa Rica. Alarmed that it could grow into a worldwide flu epidemic, the World Health Organization of the United Nations and the Center for Disease Control Prevention (CDC) in the United States raised its pandemic alert level to Phase 5, which signifies that a pandemic is imminent.

While experts believed that the recent outbreak is not as fatal as previous epidemics, such as the SARS virus, health officials believe that the number of cases could go up as the new flu is expected to make its way throughout the United States.

The new swine influenza strain is apparently a new variant of four strains of influenza A virus subtype H1N1. According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, one of the strain is endemic in humans and birds and a couple are endemic in pigs.

However, according to scientists the 2009 H1N1 outbreak is of swine origin which is associated with the virus isolated in North America in 1998. To hasten understanding of the current outbreak as well as in coming up with a vaccine, scientists from Canada have completed the full genetic sequencing of the H1N1 virus.

The new strain of H1N1 has become widespread in Mexico and the United States with confirmed cases in 18 countries and suspected cases in 42 others. Travelers have been warned not to travel to affected countries such as Iceland, Singapore, Thailand, South Korea, Hong Kong, Singapore, to name a few.

In addition, warnings have also been issued warnings to visitors of countries affected by the outbreak. It is advisable for visitors to see the doctor right away if they experience flu-like symptoms.

In Mexico, schools, universities, and all public events were suspended from April 24 to May 6, 2009. In the United States, over 400 schools were closed as of May 3, 2009, which included schools in Texas and about 250,000 confirmed or probable cases.

Dr. Keiji Fukuda, who is the Assistant Director-General for Health Securiy and Environment of the World Health Organization confirmed that efforts to control the outbreak is already too late and should now focus on lessening the effects of the virus. He also clarified that closing borders or limiting travel to infected areas will do little in stopping the spread of the H1N1 virus.

On April 28, 2009, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention suggested that as much as possible, people should avoid non-important travel to Mexico.

According to Dr. Ira Longini, who is an expert in the mathematics and statistics of epidemics, staying at home, seeking medical care, closing public venues, and making anti-flu medicines accessible can help reduce the sickness by almost two-thirds.

Finally, according to Dr. Longini, the focus of efforts is to slow transmission until there is a vaccine that can be developed and made available for controlling swine flu outbreaks.

Bacterial Infection amongst birds in India ? Started in May 2009 and still ongoing – risk for bird flu?

Bacterial Infection amongst birds in India – Started in May 2009 and still ongoing.

Over 10,000 pigeons have died due to a suspected bacterial infection in the last one month in Singtam in East Sikkim, according to animal husbandry officials.

The number of dead birds could be more since the figure was an estimate given to the officials by local residents, the officials said.

The officials who visited the spot earlier this month have ruled out bird flu but suspect that a bacterial infection caused the deaths. Samples taken from the dead birds were being tested.

The residents of the town are worried that the infection could spread to poultry birds if not controlled quickly. Many claimed that insects had come out when the carcasses were dipped in disinfectant. “More than a thousand birds have died from my pigeon pen. The chicks are also dying as soon as the eggs hatch.

The animal husbandry department has to intervene and solve this problem immediately otherwise we fear there could be an epidemic,” said Binoy Pradhan, a Singtam resident.

Singtam is a town in East Sikkim district in the Indian state of Sikkim.

East Sikkim is one of the four administrative districts of the Indian state of Sikkim. Geographically, East Sikkim occupies the south-east corner of the state. The capital of East Sikkim is Gangtok, which is also the state capital. It is the hub of all administrative activity in the state.

The district occupies an area of 964 km² with a population of 244, 790 (2001) individuals. The civilian region is administered by a district collector, appointed by the Union Government and the military area by a Major General.

Military wise, the district is a very sensitive area with the Indian army having control over most areas east of Gangtok and near its borders with People’s Republic of China and Bhutan. Visitors to this region are restricted and just a few areas are open to tourists in the areas east of Gangtok. Popular tourist locales are the Tsongmo Lake, Baba Mandir and the Nathula Pass. The Nathula Pass formed the offshoot of the ancient Silk Road which connected Lhasa to India. The pass and the famous Baba Mandir are open to Indian nationals only. To enter this region a special pass — The Inner Line Permit has to be obtained one day prior to departure. This pass is made through local tourist offices. Other tourist areas include Gangtok and the famous Phodong Monastery north of Gangtok and the internationally famous Rumtek Monastery.

People in East Sikkim are mostly of Nepali ethnicity, arriving in search of jobs after the British appropriated the state in the 19th century. Other ethnicities include the Bhutias, the Tibetans and the Lepchas. Nepali is the predominant language in the region.

East Sikkim was part of the kingdom of Sikkim for most of its history. In the 19th century, the district was under the rule of the Bhutanese. After the Anglo Bhutan war, the territory was virtually under the command of the British forces. After India’s independence in 1947, the area was part of the kingdom of Sikkim under the protection of India. During the Sino-Indian War of 1962, the Nathula Pass witnessed a few skirmishes between India and China. In 1975, the Sikkim formally became part of the Indian Union as India’s 22nd state.

David Icke – July 12th 2009 – Don’t Take The Flu Vaccine!

DO NOT TAKE THE FLU VACCINE!!! David Icke Talks About The H1N1/Swine Flu Vaccine. July 12th 2009 Filmed For B3TA By Kirk Rutter. www.youtube.com The swine flu vaccine is a money-making eugenics scam. Don’t fall for it. Do some research into flu vaccines to find out what they contain, and the adverse effects they have had on many people. Whenever you take any medication, the pharmaceutical company is obliged by law to provide you with a list of ingredients contained in that medication. This is absolutely necessary for a number of different reasons. For example, you might be allergic to some of the ingredients. However, with any kind of flu vaccine, most patients are not given a list of ingredients. We already know that flu vaccines contain, amongst other things, mercury derivatives. Mercury is a toxic substance that never leaves your body. For More Information please visit: birdflu666.wordpress.com http www.davidicke.com

Then an arificial virus is created before the natural flu season starts & it’s dropped in a few places in order to develop vaccines for a worldwide population reduction program. Swine Flu Update, Oct 2009

There swine flu has been sweeping through one of our local university campuses. There have been about 700 reported cases, and one fatality. As I too was having flu-like symptoms I thought this would be a reasonable time to revisit the topic of the swine flu pandemic. The real problem is there is so much of the virus now out in the population. Mutations are expected, and its unclear in what direction they will take the flu. While the chances of someone dying from the current swine flu are on the order of 1 in 3000 (thats assuming that a pandemic typically infects 1 person in 3 and that one person in a thousand who gets the virus will die- ball park figures) that still put the expected death toll for the US alone at about 100 000. Thats about 30 times the death toll of 9/11. However the amazing thing is that it looks like the flu shots conspiracies videos outnumber those with any academic credibility by about 10 to 1. In this sense I will be focusing on geerup (that the new venomfangx) for the subject of why do people laugh at creationists part 31.
